An exceptional hand-forged flower stand produced by Taidetakomo Hakkarainen during the 1930s, beautifully illustrating the artistic craftsmanship that made the renowned Finnish forge one of the country's most distinctive metal workshops of the early twentieth century.
The sculptural design combines elegant twisted ironwork with stylised botanical details, creating an airy, almost architectural silhouette. Delicate looping supports rise above a richly forged central stem adorned with hand-shaped leaves, while the graceful feet provide both stability and visual lightness. The original finish has developed a beautiful patina over decades, emphasizing the handmade character and authenticity of the piece.
Designed to elevate a flowering plant or decorative vessel, the stand functions equally well as a sculptural object in its own right. It is a striking example of the transition from National Romantic craftsmanship towards the cleaner forms that would later define Scandinavian Modern design.
