This Mikko Nupponen Art Deco side table with drawer was produced in Lahti, Finland, during the 1930s. The compact table has a strong architectural composition formed by stacked horizontal planes, asymmetrically positioned supports, an open shelf and a practical lower drawer. Its cantilevered construction gives the piece a sculptural presence while retaining its original function as useful occasional furniture.
The warm stained birch is contrasted by black-painted edges that emphasize the table’s geometric form. The design reflects the transition between Nordic Art Deco and early Finnish Functionalism.
