An early pre-Artek example of Alvar Aalto’s Side Table 915, designed in 1932 for Paimio Sanatorium in Finland.
Produced by Oy Huonekalu- ja Rakennustyötehdas Ab before Artek was established in 1935, the table features two continuous loops of bent laminated birch supporting two moulded birch-plywood trays. The raised edges and flowing frame give this functional two-tier table its distinctive sculptural character.
Model 915 represents Aalto’s early experiments with bent wood and his human-centred interpretation of Finnish Functionalism. Its compact footprint and open construction make it suitable beside lounge seating or as an accent table in residential, hospitality and commercial interiors.
This example remains in unrestored original condition, preserving its pronounced patina and history of use.
